DescriptionFounded in 1872, The Roger Williams Park Zoo offers visitors forty acres of woodlands that are home to over 160 animal species from across the world, including red pandas, sloths, snow leopards, Masai giraffes, and a Komodo dragon. Visitors can feed giraffes and farmyard animals, while those looking for more adventures can take a zip ride and a train excursion through the zoo’s woodlands. The zoo also offers family and educational events for both adults and kids. This includes the RWP Zoo Camp, during which kids of different ages can do crafting, take part in hands-on activities with wild animal ambassadors, and take guided tours of the zoo.
The RWP Zoo homes a number of million-year-old and endangered species, and participates in breeding programs to help ensure their future survival. It is American Humane-certified and an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The RWP Zoo is also the third oldest zoo in the U.S.
